| About the College |
| St. Stephen's College was founded on 1st February 1881 and is the oldest college
in Delhi. Originally affiliated to Calcutta University, then to Punjab University, it became affiliated
to Delhi University in 1922 when Delhi University was established. The college started life in a small
house in Katra Khushal Rai, near Kinari Bazaar in Chandni Chowk. It shifted to a building near St. James
Church in Kashmere Gate in 1891. The college shifted to its present site in 1941. Established by a Christian Missionary from Westcott House, Cambridge the college is a religious foundation drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Admission to the college is highly competetive with the most sought after courses being Economics Honours and Physics Honours. |

| Size, Infrastructure, Facilities |
| The college is housed in beautiful buildings designed by the distinguished
architect Walter George. Residence facilities are available for both men and women. Library facilities
are extensive with the library housing over 90000 volumes. On- campus sports facilities are available for gymnastics, tennis, basketball, soccer, table tennis, squash, badminton, etc. A host of extra- curricular activities are available through a vibrant set of student societies and clubs. The college has a total strength in excess of 1500 students. |
