Janki Devi Memorial College was established by the famous Gandhian Brij
Krishan Chandiwala in the memory of his mother Janki Devi in 1959. Brij Krishan Chandiwala had
no children and donated all his inherited wealth to a family trust which funded the college.
The college essentially offers courses in the humanities and commerce streams and has grown
tremendously since inception.
Janki Devi Memorial College currently has about 2000 students on its rolls.
The faculty strength stands at about 100. The facilities available at the college include a fully
computerized library with 100,000 plus books, internet access and facilities for the visually challenged;
three computer centres with 130 machines and internet access; an open air auditorium;
an audio- visual cum seminar room and a sports room. The college hosts 5 extra- curricular societies/
