| About the College |
| Indraprastha College for Women was founded in 1924 as part of a nation-wide
campaign for women's education and is the oldest college for women in Delhi University. The college
initially functioned out of two rooms in the Indraprastha girls School at Chippiwara behind the Jama
Masjid. It moved to its present location in the civil lines in 1938. The college buildings were accorded
Heritage status in 2002. Indraprastha College is today a very important part of Delhi University. Its Bachelors program in Mass Media and Mass Communication is extremely well regarded. |

| Size, Infrastructure, Facilities |
| Indraprastha College is proud of its infrastructure and the fact that much of it
is friendly to people with disabilities. For example the library has a special lift for handicapped
people and a collection of reading materials in Braille. The infrastructure available at the college includes a 100,000 book library that also contains an 80 terminal ICT Centre; WiFi coverage throughout the campus; an on-campus cybercafe; an auditorium; seminar and conference rooms and an audio-visual resource centre. Sports facilities are excellent and include a swimming pool. I P College has two hostels-one with a capacity of 200 and the other with a capacity of 166. At the current time I P College has about 2600 students on its rolls. |
